Volantess supervised the project and upgrades of the Danish NOVA 6 distribution center on behalf of Rhenus Warehouse Solutions. Rhenus acquired Danish logistics provider DKI in late 2022 to expand its business in the Nordic region. Rhenus also purchased the NOVA 6 building in Horsens, which the former owner of DKI was building for expansion with Danish contractor Dansk Hal. In early summer 2023, the new premises including upgrades were completed.
With a Technical Due Diligence (TDD) we assessed the quality of the investment on (construction) technical aspects, among others. Together with Rhenus, it was decided to make several upgrades to the site, warehouse and office. This brought NOVA 6 up to Rhenus standards in both construction and installation.
The office features a completely new look and interior design. The warehouse has also undergone a metamorphosis with the application of light roof panels, sprinkler pipes and facades. More daylight comes in thanks to the addition of light strips in the facade and panoramic glazing in the overhead doors. With the addition of this extra daylight, in collaboration with TRILUX, we modified the lighting installation: via the addition of daylight control and motion detection, energy consumption is reduced.
Because construction had already started before we joined the project, the addition of BREEAM certification was no longer possible. We are currently investigating what additions could possibly be used to achieve BREEAM in-use certification. Adapting the building's lighting installation to reduce energy consumption is a nice step in that direction.
We are proud that - together with all parties - we were able to implement several upgrades to the Rhenus building. Within time and budget.
