At Volantess, we believe the holiday season is all about sharing. Not boxes full of items, but contributing to an initiative that supports people who could really use an extra hand, especially during this time of year. That’s why we are donating our Christmas gift budget to Quiet Eindhoven: the community that breaks through silent poverty with practical support and moments of joy. They provide meaningful experiences, valuable support and essential connection that make a world of difference for many.

Quiet is not a standard aid project, but a movement that makes the invisible visible. While the Quote 500 highlights wealth, the Quiet 500, launched in 2013, put the spotlight on the reality of silent poverty in the Netherlands. From the mission to give poverty a face, the first Quiet Community was founded in 2015 in Tilburg: a meeting place for people living in (silent) poverty. New communities followed soon after, places where people facing financial hardship can find breathing room, opportunities and connection. Since 2019, Eindhoven has had such a community as well, and it makes a bigger difference than one might expect from the outside.

In practice, poverty is often about much more than a lack of money. It limits opportunities and social contact, increases pressure on individuals and families, and can push people into isolation. Quiet Eindhoven breaks this pattern by offering access to what many consider everyday experiences: an evening out, a fun activity with the kids, or simply being taken care of for a moment. Local entrepreneurs, sponsors and volunteers provide products, services and experiences, allowing Quiet members to enjoy special moments several times a year, without having to worry about budget. This creates a network that not only offers practical help, but also restores confidence, relaxation and perspective.
The strength of the initiative lies in its simplicity: no complicated forms, no financial proof required. Just an intake based on trust. Anyone who needs support is welcome.
Volunteers are the driving force behind the community. They conduct the intakes, stay in touch with members and maintain the network of sponsors and local partners. Their dedication ensures that Quiet Eindhoven continues to grow and support more and more families, often quietly, behind the scenes. From theatre tickets to a carefree haircut or a visit to PSV: every gesture helps families escape daily worries, even if only for a moment.
The beauty of this impact is that it’s felt directly in the region. The experiences are made possible by local businesses and partners, meaning the city itself actively contributes to alleviating poverty. And this movement keeps expanding: Quiet Eindhoven now has 900 members, helps thousands of people and works with 24 volunteers. Together, they are part of a national network of 16 communities that support thousands of people. Across the Netherlands, over 4,000 members and their families are connected. Around 26,000 people in total.

We believe everyone deserves a cherished memory, a moment of peace or an experience that brings renewed energy. Quiet Eindhoven makes that possible, precisely where it’s needed most. Their work deserves recognition, and support. We encourage you to consider helping Quiet Eindhoven as well, whether as a volunteer, sponsor or supporter. Together, we can make life a little more liveable for thousands of people.
